This combination medication is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

Valsartan is an ARB (angiotensin II receptor blocker) that relaxes blood vessels.

Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) is a diuretic (water pill) that helps your body get rid of excess salt and water.

Together, they work to lower blood pressure more effectively than either drug alone, reducing the risk of strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

Common Side Effects

1. Dizziness or lightheadedness (especially when standing)
2. Frequent urination (especially in the first few weeks)

6. Elevated blood sugar or uric acid (can worsen gout)

Precautions

1. Dehydration & Electrolyte Imbalance: Risk of low sodium, potassium, or magnesium levels, regular monitoring is essential.
2. Kidney Function: Should be used cautiously in people with kidney problems.
3. Pregnancy: Not safe during pregnancy, can harm the unborn baby.

Photosensitivity: May cause increased sensitivity to sunlight — use sunscreen or protective clothing.
